BIO

Lene received her PhD from University College, London. Since 2020 she has worked as a Development Officer for Stanford School of Medicine, securing gifts from individuals and foundations to support faculty-based research initiatives, School of Medicine graduate scholarships, and community outreach projects.

Between 2011 and 2019 her research at Stanford University focused on studying people’s brain activity and behavior during everyday tasks, most recently human interaction with automated vehicles. She is thrilled that she has been able to combine cutting-edge research with her love of science advocacy, engaging a wide range of audiences in discussions on the future of safe, sustainable, and equitable transportation.

Lene is passionate about communicating research ideas and results to promote interest, understanding, and involvement in science. She especially enjoys connecting researchers, students, policy makers, and potential donors to foster innovative collaborations.

Outside the lab and classroom, Lene can be found pottering about in the garden and the kitchen. Born and raised a Brit, she is constantly astounded by the variety of fruit and vegetables she can grow in her CA backyard, and she is doing her very best to grow (and eat) as many of them as possible.
